Week 2: Reflecting on NZ

Week 2: Reflecting on NZ's historic healthcare events

Reflection is an important part of this paper and students will be required to self-reflect in both assessments.  This may be a new skill for you. As a way to develop or practice skills of reflection, here is a short activity, based on the historic events covered this week. If you are already a proficient reflector then there is still merit in participating!

Some guidance notes are attached. In this activity we are using a critical reflection tool from Rolfe et al (2001), commonly referred to as 'What? So What? Now What?'.

Each reflection can utilise different types of questions within each of the What? So What? and Now What? sections. The prompts I've used here differ slightly from the ones in the attached - they are more tailored to your assessment reflections. You can also create your own!

In this activity we are going to reflect on the events covered in Week 2 - the events of the Unfortunate Experiment or Neonatal chest physiotherapy. After submitting we can learn more from each other.

Attached adapted from: Rolfe, G., Freshwater, D., Jasper, M. (2001) Critical reflection in nursing and the helping professions: a user’s guide. Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan.
