To operate or not?

You are an intern at a hospital under-going supervision with consulting doctors in the Oncology unit. A woman, aged 23, has just been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She has been advised by her doctors to under take the usual cancer treatments, starting with surgery to remove the cancerous cells. However they have told her that she may not be able to have children. The alternative is to treat the cancer as it is, and hope that it goes it remission and doesn't recur, however the likelihood is high.

She has asked you opinion, as you are the only female consulting in the room. If she doesn't have the surgery and goes ahead with the radiation and chemotherapy, she could suffer from a recurrence of the cancer. However, if she does go through with the surgery she may no longer be able to have her own children ever.
It is proposed that she under goes the surgery and looks to alternative ways of having children, such as adoption or surrogacy.
