Psychology: Can you keep a secret?
Mary is in her first year studying Psychology. As part of her professional practice she must complete 100 hours of work in a rest home. This rest home also houses 10 women living with mental health. As part of their intergration into the community they work along side rest home staff to run the buisness. At the start of her day, Mary has been given the task of deligating tasks for the women. For the rest of the day she is to assist with entertainment and then mingle with rest home patients. Sue is one of the patients living in the rest home. She has become very fond of Mary and often asks her to play scrabble with her. One day Sue asks Mary if she can tell her a secret. Mary is suddenly very anxious. She does not want to jeopardize the realtionship that she has with Sue. But she also understands that keeping a secret may harm Sue, someone else and her-self. Mary decides that Sue can tell her the secret. Sue then says that she has extra pills in her draw and tells Mary not to tell the nurse. Mary wants to tell the nurse about Sue's extra pills. But is afraid of breaking the relationship they have developed.
