If you were an ACC case manager - BHSc. possible standard pathway job

If you were an ACC case manager - BHSc. possible standard pathway job

You have a friend that has claimed ACC for an injured shoulder because of work related activities. But you just happened to spot him playing tennis on the weekend. If you report him he may face action against him by ACC and lose any ACC entitlements. Your friend has 5 children at school and the wife has just lost her job so they may be forced into hardship, if they have to live solely off her unemployment benefit. You are long term friends with both of them. You tell your friend you saw him playing tennis. He says he does have a sore shoulder but some days are better than others and that was a good day when he had less pain and was able to play tennis, but usually he can’t. The wife confirms his story and asks you not to tell anyone. You agree, but are not sure how truthful he is being about his shoulder, and that he may be recovered enough to work. You have also just had a day of professional development training where you were reminded of your obligations to report any fraud. However, you decide that it is the doctor’s responsibility to identify the friend’s fitness to work, not yours.
It is proposed that You should support your friend and not say anything to ACC
