Diet + incomes
You are a community support worker, working with adults with disabilities. One of your clients has recently been to the doctor and been told that he has a 60% chance of having a heart attack because of his morbid obesity. The client is in denial over this, and does not wish to lose weight as he believes he is extremely active with his paper run and tells you he never eats fast food (which is not true, as colleagues seen him down at the local fast food shops every week.
It is in his risk management that talking about diets and his weight is a risk to the relationship and gets very physically aggressive over staff control of his diet. The client currently receives $60 per week for spending money which $20 of that goes towards petrol for his car that he drives. Staff are most likely certain $40 of that goes towards fast food as it shows in his bank statements. As a community support worker for this client you can take control of the clients money.
You discuss with a co-worker to decrease the clients weekly income to $20 per week, however you got told the risk to this is that the client his a history of stealing money off flatmates and local people in the community.
It is proposed that the client has his income decreased from $60 to $20 per week.
