A residential mental health support unit is closing down in less than a year. The clients living there have not yet been made aware of this. In the meantime, the support workers are arranging for the clients to be moved into other services. For Betty, an elderly lady, a place has been found in one of the only retirement homes that cater to severe mental health needs. The home requires Betty's medical notes immediately, however, Betty has not agreed for her information to be shared with anyone other than her GP, the clinical team and her pharmacist. Betty may miss out on a place at the home if her information is not sent over soon though, as spaces in the home are filled fast.
It is proposed that the support worker send the files to the retirement home now and talk to Betty later once her place in the home is confirmed.
