Sean Davison was convicted of aiding the death of his terminally ill 85 years old mother, Dunedin doctor Patricia Davison. His mother voluntarily request to conduct euthanasia in October 2006 to end her misery and Sean complied. He pleaded guilty to a charge that he "counselled and procured" his mother to commit suicide and was sentenced to five months home detention. The South Africa based scientist (Sean) proclaimed he has no regret in assisting his mother to her death as he believe that he didn't do anything wrong. Mr. Davison believed that the current law against euthanasia should be reform so that those who will involve in similar case wont experience the same thing. His wife and children were waiting for his return in Cape Town since he was sentenced by the High Court of Dunedin in October last year. After he was released from home detention, he flew back to South Africa and formed DignitySA which will launch a national petition for euthanasia laws.
