Beyond scope of practice
You are a dental therapist whose scope of practice allows you to treat 17 year old adolescents and under. You visit your disabled grandmother who suffers from Parkinson's disease in her nursing home and notice she has a cavity. You know that you could easily fix it yourself in the nursing home the next time you see her. If not you will have to take time off work, arrange a visit to a Dentist who is capable of taking a wheelchair, pay for an expensive visit and try to comfort your grandmother who will not cope very well during the filling. Do you secretly do the filling even though it is beyond your scope of practice?
It is proposed that Yes, you should do the filling.
