WHAT IS JUSTICE?

WHAT IS JUSTICE?

Later in the semester we will be exploring ethical issues around resource allocation. We will consider questions such as:
Who should we treat? What health conditions should be prioritised for funding? Which groups within society should be helped the most? How will I use my time and expertise in the fairest way?

The most fundamental question underlying matters of resource allocation in health care is, 'what is justice?'

Lots of thinkers have come up with different answers to this question, so clearly there is no single 'right answer'. There is no great 'authority' to turn to either.

So, let's take a different tack. What do you - as individuals and collectively - think justice is?

Please complete this survey. As soon as you have finished you will be able to see what everyone else thinks - should be interesting reading!

The more people who participate the better representative our findings will be.

If you had to choose just one simple definition of justice, which would it be?
Everyone being free to make as much wealth as they can
Everyone being protected by government
Government making the richest people pay to help the poorest
